O, Miami x Ventanitas

A Zip Ode is a five-line poem inspired by your zip code and where you live. Every spring, O, Miami and WLRN host an annual initiative to collect these poems, which has been highlighted by media outlets like The Takeaway and The Washington Post. After receiving numerous Zip Odes celebrating Miami's coffee culture, an anthology was created, sparking various projects that furthered O, Miami's mission to promote poetry throughout the city.

I worked on:

When Ventanitas: A Window Into Miami’s Coffee Culture was set to launch its presale, my original Zip Ode was proudly included in the anthology, capturing the essence of Miami’s vibrant coffee culture. O, Miami spotlighted my poem as a key feature, using it as a powerful tool for promotion. It became the centerpiece of a mural at the legendary Versailles Cuban Bakery—a true landmark of Miami’s Cuban heritage—where locals and visitors alike could experience the poem in a new, visual way. My Zip Ode was also featured at a variety of events, from readings and intimate dinners to community gatherings, all designed to celebrate and promote the book. Each event offered a chance to share the story behind the poem, connecting people through the shared love of poetry and the rich coffee culture that defines the city.
